Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a GP referral?
No. Autism Detect accepts self-referrals for all in-person assessments. You do not need a letter from your GP to book.
How long does the assessment take?
In-Person Adult assessments take approximately 90 minutes. In Person Child assessments take up to 2 hours. Each assessment is done with an MDT approach, which includes an ADI-R which will be done remotely with an informant that can speak to the patients development.
What should my child expect on the day?
No special preparation is needed. Our clinicians use age-appropriate, play-based techniques. Comfort items are welcome and our clinic rooms are calm rather than clinical.
When will I receive my report?
Your written diagnostic report is delivered within 10 working days of your assessment date.
Are your reports accepted by schools and the DWP?
Yes. Our reports are accepted by schools, GPs, employers and the DWP, and are suitable for EHCP applications.
I am on an NHS waiting list. Can I still book?
Yes. A private face-to-face autism diagnosis does not affect your NHS referral. Both can run at the same time.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept Stripe, Klarna, Clearpay, PayPal Credit and bank transfer. An interest-free 10-month payment plan is also available.
What if I need to reschedule?
Contact us at least 72 hours before your appointment and we will find you an alternative slot.
